Beyond the physical, pain can affect your mental health too. You want to experience each day the way it used to be—pain-free.
Many people experience physical pain. Whether it’s in your back, neck, shoulder, hips, knees, head, or stomach, it might prevent you from enjoying the activities you love doing most. Perhaps it’s even getting in the way of work and your career. And beyond the physical, it can affect your mental health too. You want to experience each day the way it used to be—pain-free.
I understand how uncomfortable, and perhaps unbearable it can be. After a thorough assessment, we will work together and develop a treatment plan that will get you to the pain-free life you long for.
CASE STUDY
Stephen, 54, is a business owner who spends the majority of his day at the computer. He tells me that his right/dominant forearm is in excruciating pain. It’s so painful that he can’t pick up his phone or make a fist without wincing in pain. After a thorough examination, I discovered stress and pain points throughout his body—the issue is not just in his arm.
After learning more about his work habits, lifestyle, and health history, I recommend twice weekly acupuncture treatments.
The Result
After the second week of treatment, Stephen tells me the pain has gone down from a 9 to a 4. By the sixth week, the pain is completely gone and he’s able to work and exercise just has he did before the injury happened. Stephen continues to come in for preventative acupuncture maintenance and says he’s never felt better.
CASE STUDY
Emily, 28, came in with neck, shoulder, and lower back pain. She told me that a physician previously diagnosed her with multiple herniated discs in her spine, and that she tried almost everything to relieve the pain, including physical therapy, chiropractic, and massage—all without success. The only thing that seemed to give her some relief was prescription pain medication. However, she didn’t want to continue taking it because she was developing a tolerance, which caused her anxiety of addiction. She then shared that the physician recommended surgery to fix the discs, but despite the pain, she did not want to go under the knife at such a young age. By the end of her consultation, we agreed that she would come in for acupuncture every week for three months, then decide if surgery was necessary.
Before we began her first treatment, Jane expressed a fear of needles, which was so bad that she fainted whenever she had blood drawn at the doctor’s office. However, she stated that for whatever the reason, she felt comfortable getting treated with acupuncture by me.
The Result
After a few months of treatment, Emily reported that her physical pain is under control and that she doesn’t even think about getting surgery anymore. On a scale from 1 to 10, the pain has decreased from an 8 to a 3, and it comes less often. And although she is still sensitive to needles, she doesn’t get nearly as anxious as she once did.
TESTIMONIAL
For work, I spend most of my days at the computer. Over time, I began to feel pain in the arm that I click my mouse with (my dominant arm). As the pain grew more and more severe, I knew I had to do something. I heard about acupuncture from friends and made an appointment to see Soo-Mi. As soon as I met her, I felt at ease—it was clear that she is a true healer who really cares about her patients and their well-being. After an examination, Soo-Mi told me the issue was more widespread—not just in my arm. After just a few treatments, the pain decreased noticeably. Weeks later, I’m very happy to report that the pain has gone and I’m finally able to work and exercise the way I used to. I’m so happy that I found Soo-Mi! – Stephen T.
